The holidays are near the corner and managing mental health at holiday season can be tough.

It’s such a busy time of year and until you can relax a little bit, you have a lot of things to prepare for socializing, drinking, eating, buying presents and pressure to spend money.

While it is a merry and Christmassy time for many, it can also be very difficult time for others. The invisible cloak of stress will be overwhelming.

There are a few things you can do take care of your mental health by planning how to avoid getting stressed over the holidays.

Agree to take that Holiday Season are different this year

It is evident that the 2020 holiday season will be unlike any other in modern history. The Public health experts say that the safest, most wise approach to the holidays this year is to stay safe and that means we must stay apart.
The current extremely traumatic global event, COVID-19 restrictions make it nearly impossible to enjoy the things we typically like to do around the holidays.
That’s why one of the healthiest things we can do for ourselves during this time is to live in reality and accept this. The poet Mary Oliver said, “Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable.” That say seems just right for this holiday season.

Take quick breaks and be mindful

At Christmas it can be all too easy to get swept up into other’s ideas of spending time. If you have your own plans, make sure you have a break in between for a day to relax or do stuff you enjoy.

But do not Isolate Yourself. Maybe you have a hard period and feel that you do not want to see anybody.

Take good control over your Sleep, Water and Diet

Give yourself time to relax over the Holiday Season- don’t hesitate to take time out to go for a walk, listen to music or have a nap if you need it. While it’s fine to have a bit of culinary indulgence over the celebration mood, it can be tough to keep your diet balanced with excess amounts of alcohol and high calorie or processed foods. Try to eat food that can help you avoid energy lows which can in turn, affect your mood.

Whilst moderate alcohol consumption can make you feel relaxed, don’t forget that drinking too much can leave you feeling ill-tempered and low.

Don’t take on too much

It’s okay if you have quiet celebration and holidays if that’s what you want. If you are tired not prepared to go for any get together and need to have support in your pocket, it’s totally fine. It’s okay if you don’t do it all.
